This is a very rare mouse, first discovered in 1909 by Thomas and Dollman. It is also known as "the country mouse". Little is known about this mouse, and research is still being conducted into the behaviour of this mouse. It received the name Eastern Pebble-mound Mouse as it is known to build a mound of small stones outside the entrance to its burrow. It is thought that this assists in collecting due and moisture. The mouse inhabits the arid dry areas of Western Australia. It was also discovered in Queensland in the mid 90's.
