The Arnhem Tomb Bat
|
The Arnhem Tomb Bat was first discovered in 1979 by McKean & Friend at S. Alligator River, near Rookery Point, Kapalga in the Northern Territory. They are quite large bats, weighing about 25-30 grams on average. Their body is covered in short hair, ranging from light red-brown on their back, and a light grey on their front. The bat has two distinct white stripes down either side of the body close to the wings. At this stage, this particular bat has had very little research. Only 11 specimens have been recorded since 1979. The bats most likely feed on insects and flying low in the process.
